The Indian government has set ambitious climate targets, in particular for the development of renewable energy and a clean hydrogen ecosystem. The major Indian industrial conglomerates have also announced significant investments over the next few years.
A successful green energy transition in India is crucial for the world to succeed in fulfilling the Paris Agreement and achieving global sustainability goals. India has the world's third largest greenhouse gas emissions and will be the country in the world with the largest increase in energy demand over the next 20 years.
To be able to develop renewable energy and a hydrogen ecosystem fast enough to meet its own climate goals, India will need access to technology, capital and expertise. Norway can contribute to this and at the same time take a strong position in the Indian energy market.
The event will focus in particular on business cooperation in sectors such as renewable energy, hydrogen and hydrogen applications such as maritime and industry, and at the same time seek to identify how cooperation in research and education can contribute to the green transition in India.
Some of the questions we would like to discuss are:
- How can Norwegian businesses and academia contribute to India's green shift?
- How can increased Norwegian activity in India contribute to meeting the Norwegian government's export targets?
